Planning a Destination Wedding in Gozo
What to know before you fly your guests to a small island for the weekend — timing, logistics, and the questions we get asked most.
Gozo weddings tend to be smaller by necessity — the ferry crossing filters out anyone who isn't genuinely committed to being there, which is usually a good thing. Here's what we've learned from filming a dozen of them.
Time the ferry into your day
The Gozo crossing takes twenty-five minutes but queues can add an hour either side in peak season. If you're bringing guests over for the day, build in more slack than feels necessary — nobody has ever complained about extra time at a harbourside café.
Wind is a planning consideration, not an inconvenience
Clifftop ceremonies are exposed. Talk to your planner about acoustics and consider a small PA system if you want guests further back to actually hear your vows. We'd also gently suggest not spending too much on a veil you plan to keep still.
Book accommodation early
Gozo has fewer large hotels than Malta, and good farmhouse rentals go quickly for summer dates. If your date matters to you, start there before anything else.
